Climate Resilience in Her Forest

Loading Events

Did you know that women statistically show greater interest in addressing climate change than men? This means that women landowners are more likely to focus their land management goals on reducing the effects of climate change. Join WOW-VT (Women and our Woods Vermont) and Northwoods Stewardship Center to discuss techniques for developing climate resilience in your woodlands that you can use directly in your forest management plans all while learning with other women landowners and woodland enthusiasts. Join us for a walk on the 1,500 acre demonstration forest at Northwoods Stewardship Center, an educational facility for forest management, conservation, and research.

Participants should arrive ready to spend the day outside with appropriate clothing and footwear for walking in the woods. 1-2 liters of water per person is recommended as well. Children are welcome, please send us a note (forestry@northwoodscenter.org) when you register with the ages of any kids that will be joining you. They will need to be prepared to spend time with the group for as long as you plan to stay. Sandwiches from Cafe Lotti will be provided for lunch at no cost to you.

WOW-VT is a collaborative women-centered community that shares information and offers support for people who take care of Vermont’s forests. Steering committee members include professionals from Vermont Coverts, Vermont Woodlands Association, Vermont Land Trust, Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife, Audubon Vermont, and Vermont Department of Forests Parks and Recreation.
