Dusty May was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, but has lived in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont for 8 years and has discovered that he is a Vermonter at heart. He moved here to join his Vermont wife on an old hippie commune where they remodeled a house together, and he fell in love with the state and the Northeast Kingdom.
Dusty graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He grew up in the outdoors camping, hunting, and fishing. In addition to this he spent a lot of time riding horses and being on farms, which ultimately lead to his 7 years’ experience guiding elk hunts in the backcountry wilderness of Colorado. He also has a cumulative total of 15 years in the landscaping and construction industries. Dusty worked for a short period of time with Wildlife Services trapping an invasive species of rabbits in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska.
Dusty began his employment with NWSC grooming Nordic ski trails on Mt. Hor in Westmore. He felt that his passion for the environment aligned with the mission of NorthWoods and its employees. When a long term employment opportunity arose with Conservation Corps he jumped at the chance to join the team. Dusty feels that meeting new people from different backgrounds and having experiences in the outdoors and working hard for the greater good brings people together. His other passions include Wood Carving, Carpentry, Mountain Biking, Hunting, Kayaking, Canoeing and making Handmade Knives.
