Devan has had a lifelong love of the natural world that led her to pursue a career in the outdoors learning about and advocating for flora, fauna, and landscapes that bring her so much joy.
She graduated from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry with a degree in Conservation Biology. Upon graduation she moved back to Colorado, where she grew up, and worked in a variety of seasonal field ecology positions. Some highlights included collecting meteorological data in the winter on the continental divide, spending summers monitoring flora in environments from the alpine to the desert, and paddling the headwaters of the Colorado river as an intern with the BLM River Rangers. Most recently Devan was living in Boise, Idaho where she collected native plant seed as part of the Seeds of Success Program, and spent two summers monitoring rare and special status plants all over the state.
In the fall of 2021 she relocated to the Northern Green Mountains of Vermont where she lives off-grid in a tiny home with her partner and their dog. When she isn’t at work she enjoys biking, skiing, gardening, and spending time planning the eventual build of a home on their property. Devan is very excited for her work at NorthWoods and getting reacquainted with the forests of the North East.
