McKinney Outer-Island-Fence-Build

Through NorthWoods’ long standing partnership with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the Corps will manage a Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) crew in Springfield MA this summer. The crew is based on our proven model of working with local youth on local conservation projects, with the goal of engaging urban youth. The crew will work on a variety of projects in and around the city of Springfield, working in City Parks and at the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge’s new Fannie Stebbins Unit. Crewmembers will participate in environmental education activities as well as conservation and employment training, while earning a weekly stipend. Applications for this crew are still being accepted until May 1st.

Springfield Crew Applicants: There is no checkbox on the current version of our 2014 application – please write in your own checkbox or make a note of your specific interest in the Springfield Crew on the application form before sending. The deadline for Springfield applicants has been extended.

Working in partnership with the Androscoggin River committee the Corps will recruit, hire and manage an Androscoggin River Steward. Based out of Errol, NH and working downriver to Berlin, the “River Runner” will provide resource protection and public service through visitor outreach, education and monitoring of river use.  As the Androscoggin River receives increase use by anglers, paddlers and other outdoor enthusiast the efforts of the River Runner will be critical in mitigating user impact and ensuring the protection of the resource.
