How do you keep track of 1,500 acres of working forestland, wetlands, unique ecological areas and open land? Our Forest Stewardship staff recently finished an updated management plan for the Lydia Spitzer Demonstration Forest. As required every 10 years for enrollment in the Vermont Current Use program and the NRCS Environmental Quality Incentives Program, we spent several weeks last summer in the woods collecting data, taking notes and revisiting permanent monitoring plots and even more winter office time analyzing what we found. View the map and take a look inside the plan to see what we’ll be doing in the Demonstration Forest during the next decade- timber harvests, invasive plant control, enhancing forest resilience to climate change, and much more!
